Description

The wider objective
of the project would to strengthen technical cooperation, contribute to human security of community level resource users, and promote sustainable environmental development through integrated water resource management, including identification and sound management of aquifer resources that are present in the territories of the countries within the region.
The specific project objective
is to identify major national transboundary aquifer systems within the region, assess their resources, and identify and define at least one pilot project for inclusion in the GEF full sized project to demonstrate sound management of a transboundary aquifer for the benefit of the users of the water resource.
