Other Definitions | There is no fully agreed definition of sustainable
development. However, most people agree that sustainable development means undertaking development activities while improving and maintaining the well-being of people and ecosystems into the future. Such development is likely to be sustainable if it improves the quality of human life while conserving the Earth’s vitality and diversity. The Brundtland Definition (1987) is the most widely used, which defines sustainable development as development which "meets the needs of the present, without comprising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs". |
