Description

The Niger River is the only major river crossing Niger. It is also the only source of water for consumption in the city of Niamey and many neighborhoods and villages bordering it. The various biological and chemical analysis that we have made on samples taken at points of wastewater from the National Hospital of Niamey, the Frigorifique Abattoir, the Tannery, Hotels (Gaweye, Grand Hotel) have shown the presence of dangerous microbes type Salmonella, Staphylococcus, streptococcus, of Shiguelles, heavy metals and carcinogens such seals, dyes, bromides, and salt type welded. The emergence of new business practices by washing laundry soap using the rate of soda is 1g / l to 3g / l, while the average is 0.01g / t, is also a real danger to aquatic life and riparian population using this water as a beverage. All these sources of pollution can be a real cause of outbreak of various diseases such as typhoid, cholera, malaria, various digestive diseases and even cancer that can affect the population. This pollution may also be the cause of the disappearance or reduction of flora and fauna living in the Niger River.
