One of the four areas of concentration for GEF activities. There are four focal areas -- biodiversity, climate change, international waters, and ozone layer depletion. Activities

related to land degradation, primarily those addressing desertification and deforestation, as they relate to the focal areas, are also eligible for GEF funding. (Operational Strategy and Operational Programs)
