Official WHO Definition

A well-defined western boundary current of the North Atlantic, which carries warm, saline tropical water north and north-eastward along the eastern coast of the United States, joining the Labrador Current at the Grand Banks, about 40°N and 50°W, to become the North Atlantic Current (WHO et al. 2003).See thermohaline current.
