Description

The impact of the proposed project will be sustainable economic development in the Central Asia countires and Afghanistan through improvements in regional cooperation on transboundary water resources management. The proposed project outcomes are:

  1. An improved knowledge base and capacity for water resources management of the Amu Darya;
  2. A stronger institutional framework for water resources management of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya, and an institutionalized forum and process to support dialogue and further actions; and
  3. A more reliable water supply in the Chu-Talas basins.

Expected Outcomes

The project will have two sets of activities. The first set (components 1 and 2) will support improvements in regional cooperation for Amu Darya and Syr Darya. The second set (component 3) will focus on the Chu-Talas basins:
